Hair Shaka, on the second floor of a shophouse on Tanjong Pagar Road, carries 101 reviews at 5.0 and offers a Russian manicure alongside its main trade. That says nothing against the salon. It does mean the treatment turns up across quite different kinds of business, and at a Hair Salons listing the person doing your nails may be one specialist working a couple of days a week.

Dedicated nail studios make up the rest of the visible list, and one of them dominates it. Nail Queen By Michelle Tran, in Far East Plaza on Scotts Road and filed under Jalan Besar, has 869 reviews at 4.9, roughly four times the next entry. Nail Lab 11 sits in Tanjong Pagar Plaza behind the NTUC supermarket in Tanjong Pagar, with 213 reviews at 5.0. Back in Jalan Besar, NS Nail Studio on Bali Lane has 78 reviews at 4.9.

The east side has two smaller studios, both in Marine Parade. Winnie Art is in Roxy Square on East Coast Road with 44 reviews at 5.0, and NAKED NAILS STUDIO in Hexacube Mall on Changi Road has 11 reviews, also at 5.0. Eleven reviews describe a good start rather than a proven record.

The shape of the wider list
