LEISURE and Cultural Services Department fitness room

LCSD fitness rooms are a territory‑wide network of public gyms across the urban area and the New Territories, operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Access is standardised to support safe, proper use of equipment: individuals aged 15 or above may register as Users once they meet LCSD’s fitness‑room qualification requirements. Qualifying routes include completing the LCSD briefing on proper use of fitness equipment and passing the assessment; completing LCSD Fitness (Multi‑gym) Training Courses (from May 2006 onwards) with at least 80% attendance; holding an LCSD Fitness Gold Card; or possessing equivalent qualifications recognised by the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China. Booking and user verification are managed through SmartPLAY, LCSD’s user‑friendly sports and recreation booking and information system. SmartPLAY lets you search fitness equipment facilities and browse venues by district, and supports uploading proof of qualifications for verification. Users aged 18 or above can register directly on SmartPLAY; users under 18 require parent or guardian consent. A consistent, qualification‑based access system helps ensure safe, responsible training across all LCSD fitness rooms.
