First spin with Axiom was quite intense, but the instructor is nice and kind to encourage us and explain the moves. Quite a fun experience!
Glad I discovered this gem! Chanced upon Axiom when I was working out in HV at some other studio, was intrigued because I've not done strength training/conditioning before and so far i've been blown away by the rigor and repertoire of their training sessions! To begin, they offer a variety of classes (see Schedule for more info) - Foundation, Lift (Upper Body/Lower Body/Back etc.), Strength-Conditioning and Metabolic Conditioning. I personally am a big fan of their Strengthcon and Metcon class because we use a variety of equipment (rower, ski, weights, balls, sled, kb, dumbbell, box, bodyweight etc) and it's always a dynamic workout targeting the full body! It's a superb cardio+strength routine for anyone who's kinda interested in both :) I like both so it's a perfect combi for me. I started out w a single-class drop-in, but beginners can try the trial pack to try out as many classes as they can within 2 wks to see what works in terms of workout and scheduling. The scheduling is quite friendly for working adults, with plenty of AM and PM opitions to choose from. The studio is spacious but intimate with small group setting; equipment are well maintained, there's water dispenser, nice toilet, clean towels. Great place to work out and make friends! Also, Shun De is a fantastic instructor :) He pays attention to our fitness level, form/posture and guides/spots us when required (i'm newbie so i appreciate the assistance and attention). I highly recommend Axiom hahaha but FAIR WAIRNING the workouts can be hella challenging lol
Strength classes are small with great ratio of one to one with trainers, it took me a couple of months to work on various motions and the trainers are always encouraging. There's a mix of regulars and new members so it's always a good challenge! Each session is a different muscular group and endurance (sometimes cardio). You can always voice out your concerns/injuries and they'll suggest an alternative workout for you. Prepare to sweat and hydrate more as it's outdoors, but it's worth the shower (towels and toiletries provided!) after class. Location is convenient. It's one of my preferred gyms around Holland area.
I love Axiom. All their coaches care and are well trained and challenge you to your limits within reason. They have different styles but it's serious stuff. I love their Metcon classes. Full of surprises. I love their Road classes, their coaches are not just doing it for fun, they are athletes and know the technical aspects to the sport. Rhythm I love occasionally, that's more fun! I can't say a bad thing about the coaches. Go for a trial , if you're into exercise you would be doing yourself a n injustice not giving it a go.
I am an avid runner and was initially sceptical about doing strength training. The small-group strength classes are well designed and conducted to target major muscle groups to build muscular strength and endurance. The instructor Shun De knows how to keep things fresh and challenging for each session. An addition of a weekly strength class over the past 3 months has made me stronger and I have definitely seen an improvement in my running performance.
